The OCEANS trimaran: a symbol of ocean protection
Francis Joyon renamed his former Orma trimaran OCEANS, as a tribute to the sea that has given him so much. After an extensive refit, this 18-meter vessel, designed by Nigel Irens, returned to the water for a new program of races and record attempts.
More than a high-performance sailing yacht, OCEANS serves as a platform for awareness-raising — a way to carry a positive and unifying message about the need to act to preserve marine ecosystems.
A mission: supporting those who protect the ocean
Through his project, Francis Joyon aims to provide media visibility and concrete support to committed associations and stakeholders. He currently supports:
- HISSÉO, a decarbonized maritime alternative in the Mediterranean, of which he is the patron
- IGREC MER, active in Guadeloupe in the protection of coral reefs
- Antoine Combot, founder of a coral farm in Brittany
- Caribbean Cetacean Society, dedicated to the preservation of cetaceans in the Caribbean
These projects share a common goal: to offer concrete solutions to combat human pressures, pollution and the degradation of marine habitats.
A sporting program: sailing to raise awareness
OCEANS takes part in a program of emblematic races in order to amplify the environmental message carried by Francis Joyon. The boat will compete in:
- Round the Island Race (Isle of Wight)
- La Sénane – Tour of the Île de Sein
- Cowes – Dinard
- Drheam Cup – starting from Cherbourg
These races serve as a platform for meetings, testimonials and outreach actions — a way of using competition as a powerful vehicle for awareness-raising.
