La Mer en Commun movement
A new course for the Ocean
La Mer en Commun is the name given to the French initiative for 2025, designated as the Year of the Sea, which aims to raise awareness, mobilize and highlight all stakeholders around maritime issues such as marine biodiversity, pollution, climate change and the promotion of our maritime heritage.
This initiative marks a new milestone in a shared commitment: to raise awareness of, foster appreciation for and protect the ocean at the national level, as part of a collective dynamic led by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, alongside associations, businesses and engaged citizens.
Giving visibility to and supporting projects that protect the ocean
The movement aims to “bring maritime issues into public awareness” by fostering a collective understanding of ocean-related challenges in all their dimensions — environmental, social and economic — through dynamic actions such as exhibitions, educational events, locally labeled projects and awareness-raising campaigns.
The La Mer en Commun label provides visibility and support to projects of all kinds — associative, cultural, scientific, educational and sporting — that work to protect the ocean and its ecosystems.
Strengthening the reach of the Endowment Fund’s initiatives
By joining La Mer en Commun, KRESK 4 OCEANS seeks to strengthen the impact of its initiatives, expand partnerships, and position its actions within a broader national framework. From now on, some KRESK 4 OCEANS projects will benefit from the visibility offered by the label and will be integrated into the national program of the Year of the Sea.
It is also a way to bring people together more effectively, engage the public and citizens, and amplify the impact of each local action alongside other committed stakeholders.
Acting on land and at sea for a healthy ocean
Joining La Mer en Commun fully aligns with the mission of KRESK 4 OCEANS: to work towards a healthier ocean, take action both on land and at sea, and involve everyone in this shared responsibility. This commitment strengthens KRESK 4 OCEANS’ ability to lead broader projects, reach new audiences, and actively contribute to the success of the Year of the Sea 2025.
Together, raising awareness of, caring for and protecting the ocean becomes not just a slogan, but a truly collective action.
