THE PROJECT

The project's objectives

Even though it is an essential element in climate regulation, the ocean has long been the great absentee in climate negotiations

From this observation and the desire to remedy it, the Ocean & Climate Platform (OCP) was born on June 8, 2014, on the occasion of World Ocean Day, with the support of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and an informal group of civil society actors.

Thus, since 2014, the POC has been working for a better understanding and consideration, by policy makers and the general public, of the scientific messages on the interactions between ocean, climate and biodiversity, with the objective of integrating the Ocean into the climate regime.
